Sea, sun and Benedictine liqueur!

Do you know the french liquor called « Benedictine »?
This is where it’s made in Normandy, in Fecamp.
We visited the cellars.

Somebody was having his or her 50 Birthday here , they were preparing the place.
This is the distillery with the stills
Isn’t it a nice place for a Birthday celebration?
These are the copper stills

The cieling of one of the room. This place is a palace a Neo Gothic one dating back to 100 years
It was built by this man. At first it was a kind of elixir and a medical remedy.
It contains 27 plants and spices they employ an herbalism
And the recipe is a secret.

It was a fine sunny day

At the end we have tasted three sorts of Beverages
Benedictine, B & B with Brandy ( especially for US) and B with cognac ( for french) different tastes!
Only 5 per cent stays in France the rest is exported.

This is were the visit ends if you want to drink more Benedictine ( with moderation if you drive ! 😆)
Cocktail recipe: ice cubes, 15 ml Benedictine, Schweppes bitter

Or any sparkling bitter beverage and thin lemon peels 🍋 🍋

  1. I have never tasted Benedictine! Some day I will, I hope. The room where the party was to be held is beautiful.
