Hello friends !

We are having a bank holiday on the 1 rst of May and we decided  some weeks ago to go on vacation before the summer crowd.  So I will be away from my blog for a few weeks.

We are going up north of France by the sea and in a protected natural environment.

Mr L will go horse riding 🏇 on the shores, we will go bird watching in an ornithological park where a lot of different birds stop on their migration way, we will go on a steeam train in the bay , eat specialties relax and have a rest.

Today, is hairdressers day and garage day for the yearly control before we leave.

I wondered why it had a light that you can’t switch all the time and I discovered that there was a little motion detector and each time you pass by it lightens so nice in the dark between our books!

“Labour Day”. 

Running day

 Hello Friends !

Yesterday, was running 🏃 day!  And our daughter has been running through forest and fields trails during 15 kms  in 1h45 mns. She arrived 7th in women’s category 0n 45. And in total they were 131 runners.

It was the first time for our village to organise such an event and it was a success !

We had a lot of fun because my husband missed of her arrival last month and yesterday he has been there for two hours waiting for his daughter ´s arrival and he could not follow her with his phone  as she was running fast and just filmed the wall! 😂 so we had a good laugh when  we watched the video! 

I was not there, as I could not stand two hours and not feeling  too well these days ,but I was at home following her on my phone with a tracker.

Well we have a picture of Maud exhausted sitting down under a tree! 😂 

I had prepared the meal and cooked chicken with mushrooms, tomatoes with beer, waffles with mozzarella and Basil and for sweet lemon cream  custard 🍮 with meringue and  a flan ( custard cake?)

Today, will be the beginning of a hot week!

I hope the temperature won’t rise too high and too suddenly.

We should go away a little soon and I hope to be able to be better by this time.

Pink, blue, purple and white!

Hello Friends,

Before I start cooking and baking for the weekend, I went out in the garden with Bandit.

All week the weather was cold and rainy so I did cleaning, laundry … inside and I did not see the Rhododendron in full bloom! I was looking many times and there was nothing, so surprise when I went to have a look in their corner of the garden! The Azalea will soon be all bright pink!

This bush is at the garden entrance with a white Hydrangea and mock orange bush ( not sure of the name) it is all white and has a very nice smell. It will be soon blooming with the lilacs . ( don’t remember the name of this bush on the picture ?)

 The peonies take time to be in full bloom, due to bad and cold weather.

Book Nook, travel and tulips.

After all the puzzles 6 big puzzles since December, my husband new hobby is to build these small decors to put in between books in a book shelf with light! This is the second one he started last night! 

 Hello friends!

Already Thursday! I did quite a  lot yesterday and today

I have a little more to do and I must find what to cook for Sunday. Our daughter and SIL are coming for the day, our daughter will participate to a Trail race organised in our village in the morning. Then on the 1st of May they are leaving to do their cycle 🚲 tour. 630 kms! They start in Passau ( Germany) 🇩🇪 going along the Danube river to Vienna ( Austria ) 🇦🇹 Bratislava (Slovakia) then to Budapest ( Hungary) 🇭🇺 during two weeks .

On Sunday, we will organise to follow them on my phone.

Peonies and rain.

Today, I am tidying the bedrooms and do the dusting.

I took out my pins, these are handmade embroidered brooches. My husband gifted me some and my son each time he comes and goes to Rouen.

The ladybird is the last one I received.

This frog has beautiful colours but is very poisonous in real!

I found this jacket in my wardrobe and the dress I bought in Dubaï some years ago. I forgot about them!

The peonies are starting to to bloom!

 It was heavily raining this morning, but it stopped and now it is grey and windy.

Our long weekend.

Do you know Benedictine?

This bottle is Benedictine and Brandy.🥃 

In fact during the long weekend I managed to fix my blog ( for the moment!) and we decided to to go to Fecamp, by the sea and to the”palais de la Benedictine”

There has been some changes since we last visited it.

We like the taste of the liquor, but are not used to drinking! So we began the visit with a glass of Benedictine when we get the tickets and do the visit with our glass in hand! All visitors having their glass.

This room is for rent for the weddings and events.

Benedictine is made of various plants and spices such 

as : cardamome, mace, lemon peels, nutmeg, thyme, black tea, angelica ,maidenhair fern,juniper berries, hysop, cloves, cinnamon and some secret plants of course!

After we left we went to “Saint Valéry en Caux”

The cocktail bar. With the ticket we had a cocktail at the end! Spritz with Benedictine (it was very good…but) as we are not used to alcohol we ordered a crepe … but the crepe was with mandarin and… Benedictine jam!!
