Rain and fireworks 🎇

I didn’t bake this apricot pie but my husband brought it from the Patisserie.

Today, it is the village festival     during two days and there should be a fireworks at 11 tonight  behind our garden, but it has been raining a lot all day and it may be cancelled if it doesn’t stop. 

The field next to our garden have already been ploughed , a sign of coming Autumn.🍂 

 We went out this morning to the chemist to get some medicine. Last week the nurse came to do me a blood test and the results are not good. I don’t want to cancel our holidays and will make other explorations when we will be back. I am not doing much as I am not feeling well

We are just watching TV and I lit a scented candle to be cosy.

I hope to get better with the treatment and rest.

Baking experience.

Mirabelle plums.

 Yesterday I told you my son was in Iceland. 🇮🇸 we chatted on Skype while he was having his lunch and for sweet he was having a skyr cake ( Icelandic cheese cake)As I eat skyr everyday I had the idea to bake one today.

He is now waiting for his plane to fly to Greenland but it is a lot delayed then he will embark the sailing boat for  10 days.

This is what I received yesterday.

The Skyr cake will be soon ready !

It is less fattening than cheese cake 

450gr skyr

2eggs

80 gr digestive type biscuits 

1 spoon of honey 

80 gr brown sugar

1lemon zest

The same as the usual cheese cake.

Crushed biscuits +melted butter to make the crust.

Then skyr+ eggs+sugar+honey+lemon zest.

Add the Skype preparation on top of the mixed crushed biscuits and butter.

Bake 45 mn oven 160 degrees Celsius

I will taste it when cold!

This and that…

Maxime is always singing and it was nice to hear his little voice singing nursery rhymes. Here, shopping with dad in the Mall.

 Today, our son is feeling better and exploring again Iceland his favourite destination before flying to Greenland. Our daughter had to go to work at the hospital with a mask she couldn’t cancel people’s appointments. My husband is tired and needs  vaccination and this morning the nurse came for my blood test and I am keeping calm and a maximum of rest to be able to go on holiday soon. The dog is feeling better today.

Yesterday, I received the jewellery box I ordered on Amazon. It’s a very nice box. As we continue to sort out things we have and don’t want anymore, I am sorting out my collection of jewels ( costume jewellery? It is the translation I found?) and give the ones I don’t need anymore. Afterwards it will be nice and tidy and give me a drawer space.

While we did or sorting out, I found a very old hand stitched bed cover I found a long time ago in a brocante.

On Sunday my husband drove twice  all the things we wanted to part  with to a thrift place . Some more should go after our vacations.

Today, we have some rain which is good for the garden and cool weather which is good for me!

Waiting for better days and holidays!

 Hello friends!

I don’t know what’s wrong in our family at the moment… but our daughter has got COVID, I have health problems again and the nurse is coming tomorrow morning our son

Flew to Oslo then Iceland for two days and then fly to Greenland to embark a sailing boat for 10 days on photographing cruise and this morning I had a message telling me he was not well! We told him to see a doctor if not well tomorrow before leaving, my husband had vertigo and the dog was sick all night and we had to take him out 4 times.

I had a little relief on Saturday and we went grocery shopping, had a quick lunch and I wanted to go out a little 

So we went to one of my favourite shop and my husband gifted me this jeans bagwith embroidered  butterflies 🦋 on it

I forgot I had a trench coat that will perfectly goes with it.our holidays are approaching and I hope to get better soon. At the same time our daughter will leave for Bergen and the Lofoten island ( hope her husband catch COVID before leaving) as it is said” keep our fingers crossed !”

I will rest this week and do what I can!

An inspiration…

Today, we have lost about 10 degrees C and it is so nice to breeze fresh air and open the doors and windows again!

It’s time for sun flowers fields here too.

I found the inspiration  today fron Mari’s blog “ My little corner of the world” she took a beautiful  picture of a sun flower field at sunset. I took pictures of sunflowers field and I also added paintings from Giverny’s paintings museum. ( Gustave Caillebotte ) it was an exhibition we have visited some time ago.

Just heard on the local radio that the temperature will go up again this afternoon!

So I did the ironing and cooking this morning and rest this afternoon.

Sunflowers are beautiful bright flowers and it’s amazing how they all turn forwards the sun.

All on the same side so you can see where is the sun!☀️

Feeling better and finished the work.

 Today, the temperature will be around 35C but feeling 39 C! 102,2 F . Closing all doors and windows early this morning I have 25 C downstairs, but upstairs it is more than 25 but we have air conditioning upstairs so we can sleep well.

This weekend I was a little sore after my fall, but I continued my cupboard transformation and it is done!

The garden is suffering from the heat and some days ago we had a thunderstorm and strong wind  and we discovered a big broken branch, the third one from this tree. It is about 40 years old and I don’t know if it will survive ???

But I have a few of these that are are still in the ground and I have a couple of them in the ground that I have to keep in the ground for a while to keep them alive and I have a lot of them in my garden and I have a bunch of them in a pot that I can keep in the garden for a while and I have a few of them in there that I can plant in the ground and I can put them in the ground 

I like the toile de jouy on the doors, but it was quite difficult to do for this piece of furniture is hand made and has more than a 100 years. It was in my child bedroom 

And my father founded it in a cellar full of apple cider 

Needless to say it was in a bad condition but he restored it

And I am glad to have made this transformation .

I already did the outside transformation a few months ago.

My cake stands have now a place in it

I just have to finish installing the led lamps in some places.

I think I ´ll go upstairs with the air conditioning ! It is TOO hot! 🥵 

A falling day !

Cleaned and back in place 

 Today, I got up early as one of the lamp for my cupboard did not work so i had to change it.

Then I went to get a card and wrapping paper for the grandchildren’s parcel 📦 I did not have time to send it before, and I went back to my painting. I painted the top shelf and wanted to finish by the button one! BUT…I had to go down …and I lost my balance ( it is not the first time since I had my spine cord surgery) I fall backwards against the table where I had put all my glasses on, so no need to say that a lot have been broken! At first I really wanted to cry because among them were my wedding crystal glasses , but I was “ safe” 😂 and  most of them survived ! But other glasses did not at all.

These are my crystal  wedding glasses no need to say they are very fragile!

And that is the rest of some of my glasses. I have spent one hour cleaning and vacuuming!

Lighting the cupboard.

 Hello Friends!

Today, this morning I went to get some more paint. Fortunately they had just what I needed.

I bought some led lamps that will light when I open the doors.

I continue the painting and I will put some lights on each shelf and when the paint will end I’ll do the door wallpaper.

Next week we will have 35 degrees C or 95 degrees F !

Nearly as hot as in Dubai 40C.

Today it is cloudy and not so hot we may have rain during the night it will be welcomed!

During the “too” hot weather!

This is how it will be at the end. I have done only three parts and I have got the glasses part and two at the button.

Then I will put lights inside.

Today, the weather is not so warm than yesterday and we had some rain last night.

Yesterday I had a terrible headache due to too much heat we only have air conditioning in the bedroom, but I think we’ll need to have it downstairs now that it is so hot here. But it is going up and we’ll get 32C on Sunday!!!

This morning I painted the inside of the dining room cupboard. I did the first layer on the doors and on one self.

I will put toile de jouy wallpaper in the doors( I’ve put a sample to show you) and I think dark blue will be nice with white crockery. Tomorrow I must get some more paint and wallpaper glue.

Last night I did the hotel booking for our holidays on the Netherlands coast” Cadzanbad” in an hotel spa to rest and relax.

Our daughter and husband are going to Norway and our son to Greenland on a photo cruise on a sailing boat ⛵️ 

Bandit our dog will go to the kennel again.

I have bought this Maileg rabbit for Maxime ( he called him papy rabbit) but his parents decided it was too big to put in the luggage so Papy rabbit is going to travel by himself in a box by airplane ✈️! To Maxime.

Every Saturday or Sunday on Skype, Maxime cries and ask daddy to go by car, take the airplane to see grandma!

So daddy said Maxime will go and see grandma for Xmas!we should have them all for Xmas! 🎄 🙌 

Now I ‘ll be very busy preparing another bedroom.

So better rest during September!
