Bayeux, queen Mathildés tapestry and William the conqueror.

We left early this morning to Bayeux.

I have told you that my second grandson will be named William ( Guillaume in french)

My son gave him the name of William because of « Guillaume le conquérant, William the conqueror who was our Duke of Normandy and became king of England.

We went to the queen Mathilde ( his wife) tapestry

From the 11th Century.

Unfortunately we can’t take pictures of the tapestry which is 70 meters long. We can’t photography it not to damage it but in my next post I will show you part of it.

We had a cake in à pâtisserie 

 And then continued our trip… to be continued tomorrow !

Hello Friends,

The dentist went well! And after I went to get some goodies to sent to my son and some heart chocolate for Valentine. I could not resist some « Pates de fruits » for myself! I am very found of these goodies !

Pates de fruits exist since the 10 Century and is made of fruit puree   And sugar, not very good for the diet, but confort food! SO 😊 good!

The tea cup is my last find and the tea cup spoon 🥄 was already there.

 I also went to visit other shops and found some wool for a new snood, so now I will be knitting.

This weekend we are going out despite the bad weather.

The week has been busy and is quickly ended.

Rain drops keep falling on my head!

Today, is both the day I prefer!… dentist day!

I have bad childhood memories with the dentist

And it’s a new dentist.

Yesterday I was looking for some fabric I had in my closets and I came across some patchwork I did not finish. If I remember it’s a log cabin?

Granny Marigold asked me to show the blanket I finished last night. I made it with many tiny 10gr cotton balls I wanted to get rid off. But I have spent a long time hiding the threads left!

This will go to my daughter’s log cabin!

Now I must vacuum and do some laundry before living.

I will have to go under the rain… it doesn’t stop these days, but we will have water for the dry summer which is reassuring !

Camélias, this and that…

Blue tits are very found of peanuts!

 Today, is home day! I went to have my hair done yesterday and tomorrow I have a dentist appointment.

It will be grey and rain most of the week, this morning I quickly went in the garden to take pictures of the Camélias and hellebores.

Our son in law is coming today to give a help and we will be busy.

Yesterday, before going to the hairdresser I manage to do some journaling, two more pages and I finished my crocheted blanket!

A new week after a nice weekend.

Hello Friends !

Our weekend was busy. On Saturday we went out to get  a watch my husband had left to get repaired in a small town we often go 45 mn from home and at the same time I could go to my favourite Italian clothes shop to have a look at the last sales. Last time I went there I saw this wool cardigan and it was half price, but this time a very good bargain 70 % off so I decided to buy it

, two black jumpers and a coat with hood ( all was 70% off) I can wear this coat on both sides the other one is black.

Then we had a cake and a coffee in our favourite coffee shop.

On Sunday, we stayed home I had a Skype with Maxime and we went out for a walk with Bandit our dog. The weather is all grey but the temperature was about 10 degrees.

Then I did some crocheting 🧶 to get rid of these cotton I had in a box.

I also found … a new bag! It is a faded pink colour.

 Today Monday, I am baking and cooking for the week and a special meal for my son in law who is coming to help on Wednesday.

Stuff d butternut and stuffed sweet potatoes 🍠 

Cider and carrots pork stew.

 a fruit cake loaf and vanilla yogurts.

Then blue g visits and 

Tomorrow hair cut and Thursday 😨 dentist!

This and that…

This is the result and our today’s tonight ´d meal.

How to cook endives with ham and Béchamel sauce .

First I steam the endives.

You need a sauce pan, 40 gr of butter, 50 gr of flour

Half a litter of milk salt pepper and some cheese (Roquefort or grated cheese. ) any cheese you like that will easily melt and nutmeg.

Melt the butter

Add the flour 

Then add the milk and stir until it thickens and add the cheese and stir then add salt pepper and nutmeg

 Then add some cheese on top and bake about 30 mn

Temperature 180 C .

Two weeks ago, I saw an advert on tv about the washing powder my mother always used and did not exist any more. There was a gift in the paquet and I was so pleased to find it! So I decided to jump in the past, my childhood and look at the powder, but I had rather use liquid. So I decided to buy the bottle and I was surprised to find in the back of the bottle the Surprise !

The surprise is a small paquet of basil seeds and the pesto recipe !

I remember when I was little on Monday’s at school 

The   Teacher    Told my mother I was always smelling my apron sleeve and she asked me why? My answer was I am smelling home! 😆 

Today, I am preparing the parcel full of baby clothes to Dubai!

A rainy day.

Yesterday, I baked chocolate salted butter caramel muffins with candied oranges. The inside is melted chocolate. I had one and it tasted very 😊 good!

Then I decided to bake a lemon 🍋 loaf with candied oranges. I had some with my coffee ☕️ this morning.

Lemon and orange are very tasty with coffee.

 At the same time I cleaned the floor, did the laundry 🧺. The day before I made the yogurt for the week.

Today I will cook endives with ham and homemade Béchamel sauce and cheese for tonight.

Our main dish is at night ( it should not be) but my husband has a quick lunch , a sandwich sometimes in his car when he has to visit a patient.

I will have to go back to the shop as yesterday I forgot my shopping list and forgot part of it! ( old age 😆 !)

In the afternoon I will do some crocheting and paper craft, but soon I decided to do some sewing again ( I am not good at sewing, but I will try again, we will see the result!

In the past I had a patchwork course and it was hand sewed patchwork my children remember me doing and undoing my patchwork it was a pineapple patchwork piece and they always laugh when remembering me , but it was quite difficult for a beginner !
