Gingerbread decorations

 Hello Friends!

Today, the weather is fresh and sunny.

I just went out in the garden and played with Mr Bandit and his new toy. As I am often going out at the moment

Mr Bandit is a bit depressed to stay alone .

This morning was Gingerbread baking.

Lots of honey, gingerbread spices and candied oranges.

I love the colour of candied oranges it added a little bit of sun in the gingerbread .

This afternoon I will have to choose between:

I did not decide yet. I run out of butter so I have to choose one sort of biscuits. Tomorrow I will have to get more butter!

On Sunday, we are going to a Xmas market at the “ Chateau du champ de Bataille” it’s a castle  in our surrounding. As soon as it is dark( round 6) they will light some fires in the beautiful gardens.

Baking day, “ date filled oatmeal cookies”….

The last oatmeal cookies are too cooked… I went to have a rest in my reclining chair, having back pains

And I did not keep an eye on the cookies. My new oven is very different from the old one and I have to do some training before Xmas Lol!

After my little pause, I will start my gingerbread dough.

 Today, we are having a little bit of sun and I can hear the numerous sparrows living in one of the garden bushes.

Mr L has given them some food this morning. 

They are all chatting with each other, they are so gossipy! I would like to know what they are talking about!

After having made my gingerbread dough…I will have to do the washing up. Not all is going to the dishwasher.

I like cooking and baking, but not the cleaning and washing up. What about you?

Christmas spirit!

 Hello Friends,

Today, the weather was not too bad this morning and awful this afternoon! Rain and heavy wind.

I went out this morning to begin my Xmas food shopping, while the shops were not too crowded.

This afternoon, I am choosing which Christmas biscuits I am going to bake with a cup of hot chocolate and a pine scented candle.

Parcels are being delivered and one of the room is nearly full!

My son sends his Xmas presents by mail before he arrives by plane.

As  my children have both new cats I went to get something for their pets.

I am now in the Christmas spirit!

There won’t be a lockdown, but we must be very careful during this festive time.

This year it is all white. 

I am going to prepare my gingerbread dough

To make my gingerbread men, I  will put one in each plate, on my Xmas table!

A rainy day.

 Hello Friends,

Today, Sunday it’s raining. It’s the day to stay inside!

I finished my Xmas decoration and will start baking cookies. I have done my Christmas shopping and bought our children Xmas presents.

I do my shopping early in the morning , so the shops are not crowded. The virus is very active at the moment and the hospitals are crowded again.

But, I have a good news! This morning , my son has sent me a message to tell me, that I will be the grandmother of a baby Boy!

Preparing “Noel”

 Hello Friends,

I have a busy life at the moment and try to do my Xmas decoration.

All the bulbs are planted for Spring, I had a first answer of a retirement home for my mother.

We have been working hard to empty her flat and cleaned it.

This weekend, we must take a break and have a rest, before my son arrives from Dubai.

Growing numbers of people having the virus,

Mr L is working hard with many patients a day, it is still a sad time we are going through, but I try to be positive and prepare Christmas as usual.

I have put lots of lights in my decoration, the lights of Advent and joy. The weather is very dull , lots of grey skies and rain, but this morning I saw a rainbow.

I still have the decoration of the stairs to finish.

But, today I found some time to begin my Xmas tree!

Now I am thinking of the Xmas menu.

I have to find veggie recipes for my son’s wife.

I decided to cook a fish terrine and some smoked salmon as a starter. I must find the main dish ( we usually have turkey or roasted goose, but this year  I think we will have “ coquilles Saint Jacques “

Scallops, as a dessert a cake with chestnut mousse and “ marrons glaces” with sugar coated chestnuts.
