Changes in the house new project

This weekend, we have built the Ikea beds. This one has got two beds and three drawers for the pillows… I have not finished the room, but it is a start.( other yellow cushions to come)

This room was our son’s room we did not change the wall decoration and it will be a spare room and room for our grandsons.. I’ll show you the rest of the room while I continue my work.

Next is a furniture painting and new curtains sewing.

Nice to be busy during Autumn and winter!

Garden center décorations.

Hello Friends !

Today, was a rainy day but we had to go out to « Ikea »! Again! They have made a mistake in our delivery and we had to change the item. They gave us a 20 euros gift and we already had a 10 euros voucher. We had lunch at the garden center Desjardins. 

There was a lot of beautiful Xmas decorations, I took a lot of pictures, but I am sure Linda will say it is too early!

So I only show you two of them…

But I also show you Halloween 🎃 flower display.

Then we went to a second hand children clothes sale in the village next to ours. We found many nice clothes for our little William. Aunty Maud is going to take them with her when she goes to Dubai in November.

In the afternoon we built the bed that has been delivered from Ikea and tomorrow we will have the bed side to build 

And remove some furniture from the room and prepare everything before Xmas.

We will soon be going to the Netherlands again for a few days.

Today, is dentist day! Not a good day… and I will have to take an appointment for an implant ( never had one and I am sure I’ll be very stressed that day)

Yesterday, I got the paint to do some painting in the grandchildren’s room and baked some lemon cupcakes.

In picture number 3 all the ikea pieces that arrived yesterday for grandpa to build. They made a mistake with the side bed so we have to change it on Saturday.

More shopping on Saturday!

Now I must go to the dentist and after go painting!

New finds and new organisation.

Yesterday I went out to do my grocery shopping and have  a look at some of my favourite shops.

I found some new little card board houses to decorate and build for Xmas. Some little bags and sweets for  Halloween 🎃. My house being very far from the gate I usually put balloons for the children to know that they can take sweets. I put a big bag hang to the gate and they can take the sweets.

Today,I have to stay home and wait for an Ikea delivery 🚚 a new bed for the grandchildren ´s bedroom we are organising. So busy time before we have a break!

On Saturday we went to IKEA again and bought this cupboard and put it in the car, but we should have added it to our delivery ! It was quite long and heavy… our SIL who came for supper help us fortunately. It’s difficult to know what you are still up to when you are getting old 😂 

Pear cake.

Today, is a beautiful Autumn day, sunny and warm 18C

This morning I went to the charcuterie farm. It’s right in the country they raise their pigs and sell directly from their shop. I don’t often go, but tomorrow evening our daughter and SIL are coming and  they asked me to make a “ raclette” this is boiled potatoes with raclette cheese with charcuterie ( different hams…) there is a special device which melt the cheese then your pour the cheese on potatoes and charcuterie. Each person does its own meal.

There was a lot of people 

and I had to queue 45 mn. The shop is open only on Friday and Saturday.

Then I baked a caramel and pear cake for my SIL, his best cake!

I used:

4 pears 🍐 

For the caramel: 100gr sugar

1/2 lemon 🍋 juice

For the pastry:

3eggs

120gr butter 

150gr flour ( or with incorporated baking powder)

1 coffee spoon baking powder 

150gr butter 

1 pinch of salt

You may add one or two spoons alcohol of your choice.

Make the caramel, put the pears cut in quarters.

Then mix all the ingredients and pour over the fruits

Serves8. Baking 45 mns  180 degrees Celsius.

Some years ago, I did our kitchen renovation 

The cabinet are in oak but it was brown and dark, so I decided to paint them in a lighter colour.

It was hard as they needed three coats of paint and I re painted them last year as I had a lot of paint left.

Now I have change the sink it is white. This kitchen is not convenient as it has three doors, two doors and a French window. But now for the two of us it is ok, but I often wonder how I managed when we were four of us? As I said to my son when he was there in July.do you know what was the answer? In fact you was alone in your kitchen! 😜 true… I prefer to be alone ( and he did not want to help a lot…)

The next buyers when we will sell our house will do the kitchen they like.

Here is my new fridge!

 Two big freezer drawers. More convenient to be drawers and I won’t use them everyday.

And no need to bend to get the food that will help a lot!

The other one was still very good and will be donated to an association. It was like new but was 11 years old.
