Today is the beginning of “Spring cleaning!” 🧹 it’s an old custom I got from my mother and grandmother, it’s a kind of renewal with the longer and cooler weather arriving. Today, 18  degrees C!

I also do Autumn cleaning. It a big cleanup of the entire house.

While Julien is cutting our hedge.

Hello Friends.

Before I began my painting kitchen cabinets, I made this Mother of pearl vintage buttons heart.

A vintage vase with snowdrops and Hellebores from the garden.

I had a lot of Hellebores but with this last Summer very hot weather a lot of them died despite the constant watering.

 Here is one of my favorite!

Today, last day of sun, tomorrow

 it will be grey and rainy, but we need  rain ☔️ we are in Normandy !

I painted half of the cabinets ( the lower part is done) 

Today the top ones must be done. I hope to finish by the end of the week.

Tomorrow  I will have a rest and have my hair cut

Cleaning, washing and cooking I had these books for many years, but I always find new tips in them.

They are up to date with the ecological movement nowadays.

The real « Savon de Marseille » is very useful in Spring cleaning! This is the real one, the real recipe.

I remember using this  carpet beater to clean the carpets  and take the dust off. We also cleaned the copper pans

And the ought to be very shiny!

I have already cleaned the windows, took the spider webs off the beams ( all the time!)

I will have the carpets cleaned, but later in Spring.

The sun is already shining.

I found this photo in my father’s belongings. This is a view of the cruise boat « France » a long time ago.

In his youth my father had worked on a cruise boat ⛴️ 

He was working wood and did the inside of the cabins of a cruise boat if I remember he was working in Brittany in Brest on the « Antilles » ( name of the boat)

He was working with precious woods like Mahogany…

It was a very luxurious boat and he worked for one year or two on it.

 Keeping my magazines tidy. Yesterday I had a look at my cook books and decided to give some, Mr L has taken them to put in the book box in town where people  can take the book they want. It is close to his office.

I will continue to donate books. spring cleaning! 😝 

This morning  I cut the boiler, opened the windows and cleaned all of them, Spring cleaning has begun!

Spring cleaning!

Last week end i cleaned  my bedroom balcony, because many sparrow nests are being built under the roof and these tenants 

Are not very clean! 😆 

I put faux grass and geranium planters, but have to install 

Some clear plastic that I can wash to protect the faux grass…

We have cut some grass and the sparrows are already using the dry grass for their 🪺 nests!

 

Dried strawberries and pears to use with cereals for breakfast.

I keep them in a jar.

I counted 12 flowers, it is a little bit less than usual.

This is just the beginning and the flowers will be very big in a few days.
