Forth and fifth days in Friesland

Today Dutch cheese and a day of relaxation in the fields with sheeps goats and horses in our outdoor bedroom box

Yesterday we visited some museums and castle 

Willy from «  De tante van Tjorven » fron the Netherlands helped me to find the places of interest in the province of Groningen. Now we are in Dokkum in the province of Friesland.

Wei visited two cathles and a reconstruction of an old village ( I will put the names tonight because the book is in the car and the names are very complicated for us to remember !

Appingedam third destination

Hello Friends 

We are now in Appingedam  in a B&B 

W the B&B was the ancient school of  an old Synagogue.

But here the people are Mennonites for the majority.

They were persecuted and escaped to other countries such as America. I also saw very big barns attached to the house in bricks made me think of  the Amish barns I saw in Massachusetts, but these ones are in wood, but the have about the same shapes and are so big.

Today we visited the countryside as all the museums are closed  on Monday.

We went to walk 2km above the water off lake and saw the wild birds.

It was hard for me to keep my balance and walk straight !

We begin to relax after all the problems we had before leaving. Tomorrow we are going to change our destination after we visited the museums!

Day two in the Netherlands

Day two after Giethoorn we are at the sea in Friesland in North East Netherlands close to North Germany.

Our room is the one on the left top side. We are on the Waden sea near the Waden islands.

We had our lunch here on the deck when we arrived after a walk in the thachted house village once more this morning.

Dutch people are very friendly people and few French are going up there we enjoy their company !

These tiny houses were kitchens and bathrooms  in the old days

Day one Netherlands road trip.

After 8 hours drive we finally reached Giethoorn

A village of thatched houses surrounded by water and no cars inside. We slept well in our hotel and had a long walk last night. We have been awakened by the wild geese and wild ducks this morning.

Now we will go to our breakfast with Dutch cheese!

Next stop on the North East part of the country.
