Day two in the Netherlands

Day two after Giethoorn we are at the sea in Friesland in North East Netherlands close to North Germany.

Our room is the one on the left top side. We are on the Waden sea near the Waden islands.

We had our lunch here on the deck when we arrived after a walk in the thachted house village once more this morning.

Dutch people are very friendly people and few French are going up there we enjoy their company !

These tiny houses were kitchens and bathrooms  in the old days 

Ducks being the kings of the site 😆 

 

Day one Netherlands road trip.

After 8 hours drive we finally reached Giethoorn

A village of thatched houses surrounded by water and no cars inside. We slept well in our hotel and had a long walk last night. We have been awakened by the wild geese and wild ducks this morning.

Now we will go to our breakfast with Dutch cheese!

Next stop on the North East part of the country.

How nice to do paddle at night! They came back in the dark!

Now we are going to Frise.

A stormy day.

On this Sunday, I had the idea to go and see the storm on the sea side. I think this storm’s name is Aurore.

We also went to see the smallest River of France La Veules .

We first had a sandwich in our car shaken by the strong wind, then when we went out we had heavy rain and strong wind, but it was nice to breathe fresh air from the sea with no mask!

We walked along the sea and got dry by the wind very quickly!

The waves were huge and the pebbles were flying with the huge waves, some big ones.

 We went back home and found that the storm  was following us .

We won’t be sleeping quietly tonight, to much wind blowing!

The thatched house road and Victor Hugo.

We are in Victor Hugo daughter’s house.

This is his daughter Léopoldine. He has lost his daughter who was drowned in the river Seine in front of her house.

He wrote the poem «  Demain des l’Aube » in memory of his daughter. I love this house, this is a very romantic place.

Only few people can do it now. I am glad to have the opportunity to take a picture.

The weather was very bad, but we tried to go and visit one of our favorite place «  thatched houses road »

The picture above is a typical Normand well.

These houses are along the river Seine.

Then we had heavy showers had to wait in the car and then find a place to be protected by the rain.

Then we found shelter in Victor Hugo’s daughter’s
