This place is called “ the Béguinage”
It was founded by a group of poor young women single or widowed in 1225 and was a religious but a secular association of “Béguines” who found an isolated place outside of the town near the river and worked wool . They have monastic rules but don’t take perpetual vows.
About 30 houses.
I have no interest with the hotel, but if you come by car it’s in the center of the old town and you can walk to all places of interest from here. On the right of the picture is the underground parking and next to it the entrance to the hotel ( which is very nice when you have problems to walk.)
We had one of our lunch at « le pain quotidien » a place I use to go when I go to Dubai.

I finished my avocado toast… but you can see my waffle and lemonade!
We like to eat quickly when we visit places of interest and it was quick and no queuing !
This is the Novotel centrum you have standard rooms and disabled rooms for wheelchairs. There is a restaurant with some typical Belgium dishes. And it has been all renewed.
From the hotel a few meters to the car park. The cost is around 17 euros for 24 hours. You can book your parking place on the net and I was glad to find a big place for disabled person. ( the other parking spaces being very narrow)
we went for a walk to the lake
I LOVE ❤️ chocolate !
This coming week, back home and our trees will be trimmed during two days.
This break was welcomed especially for Mr L!
Now we will have a four hours drive and get Bandit from the kennel tomorrow. We enjoyed our break at the sea in the Netherlands and visiting museum in Bruges.

What a beautiful place! I love the buildings, the cobblestone streets, the daffodils and the horse. Glad you had this nice time away. Bandit will be happy to see you!

RépondreSupprimerThank you so much for sharing all the nice pictures, The narcissen are so nice.
RépondreSupprimerWhat a lovely little vacation you enjoyed. Your pictures show different aspects of the landscape - city scenes both modern and medieval. The art museum looks like a fascinating place to visit. I look forward to seeing more of your carnet de voyage.
