A picture in the forest.

 Hello Friends !

These days I was not on my blog, I was very busy with the  electrical problems we had after the big hail thunderstorm last week. They could not solve the problem, they came back today and we will see if it is fixed tonight and the coming days.

The blue photo is in England Dartmoor forest. This is a photo my son took while sailing in Greenland with his drone. This is the third time his photos are selected, once in National Geographic traveller . If i remember this one will go around England with the National Trust.

I hope to be able to see my son , DIL and grandchildren from Dubaï, but for the moment we don’t know if they will be able to come? It is difficult to fly and not safe enough.

It is very, very hot 35 degrees Celsius! The air conditioning is welcomed! I only go out early in the morning. This is all for the moment I wish you a nice weekend!

A Run and news.

   My daughter Maud ( nickname Momaud as written and in the footsteps of Heroes! Run for Freedom starting from Pegasus Bridge where English soldiers arrived with their

Sale planes they landed in the nearby swamps but most of them survived.

 It’s been quite hard here ( i don’t want to complain) but the electrical problem is more serious . All our electrical system has been damaged and the electricians are coming again tomorrow. Many houses have had this problem around us.

They came in urgency yesterday. They had to cut part of our power to avoid a short circuit. So no need to say i don’t sleep well and have the extinguisher nearby.

No need to say that i will be very busy contacting the insurance company and stressing 😣 

We are not the only one other people have holes in their roofs because of the very big hailstones.

Another bad news, my son told me that some flights are cancelled because of the war in the Middle East  so our son may not be able to to come but safety first!

Hope everything settles and that it doesn’t cost a lot! I am not optimistic…

A terrible evening

This is from Facebook we did not have so big hailstones here but four kms from home.🏡 120 km/h wind some tornadoes.

 Hello friends 

We had a terrible evening from 7pm to midnight. Very strong winds, big broken branches and electrical problems in our house!

We heard a terrible Bang 💥 and the ground and walls had  strong vibrations. Power cut in the whole house except the fridge and my recliner?…

But we have some electric device in the attic and I think the thunder damaged it .

The electrician is coming to see where are the damages in fact I could not sleep all night I was scared that the roof and attic took fire.

Today we have to cut the branches and to repair the electrical. Nearby hailstones were 2,75 inches or 7 centimetres damaged cars and roofs and windows..

There were many floods in Normandy too.

The temperature is less hot but still a lot of humidity.

I will have to rest this afternoon!

 Hello friends 

Today we are in orange alert ‼️ we are supposed to have very strong winds, hailstorms and thunder by the end of afternoon! Now that the trees have their leaves there will be many broken branches again. We may have tornadoes…

If there is hail ( they can be big hailstones ) I think I will take the car in the garage, but we have trees close to the garage so I have to choose the best way to protect the car?

In fact I took it in the garage..

We are having very hot weather and a lot of humidity this is why we’ve storm the air is suffocating. It is 30C some places have 36C not usual for a moth of May!

As I told you last weekend we went to do some shopping and I found some new pieces of clothing. I usually wear dark colours navy blue, black, dark green, but with my grandchildren arriving soon, I thought that a grandma with colours would be more cheerful!😀 

A beautiful blue flower

This afternoon I had an appointment and had to drive through the countryside. The flax fields are starting to to bloom. This is a delicate ephemeral flower. It blooms only a few days, open when there is light and sun and close when the sun sets. It has a delicate pastel blue colour.

We are the first producers of flax and this flax becomes beautiful linen fabric.

When the flowering ends it becomes all greyish and dry.

It is torn out and let  to dry on the ground before collecting it.

Look at this beautiful tiny blue flower!

Isn’t she beautiful and fragile! Difficult to imagine it will be transformed into fabric. The stem will become the thread.
 

This is the flax after the bloom and dry and the finished fabric. In Summer I love wearing this fabric but people don’t like it because it creases, but I don’t mind.

Today it will be very hot before thunderstorms the following days as usual here!

The sand from Sahara desert is arriving and the smoke from the Canadian fires are reaching our country so difficult to see the sun and no blue sky today but over 30C in some places. Better stay inside!

Another long weekend.

Our long weekend. Three days off with a bank holiday.

What did we do?

On Saturday my husband took the dog for a long walk

While I prepared everything before leaving to some of our favourite shops after lunch. I had prepared a quick salad.

I decided to get some more colourful clothes for Summer!

I have mostly navy blue or dark colours in my wardrobe.

( I will show you my purchase in a next post)

We had something to drink and went to another town where my husband bought himself a new Lego box ( a Japanese garden) 😂 

Then on Sunday we decided to to do something inside as the weather was not too good and we did some deep cleaning all afternoon till late.

On Monday we were invited for lunch at our daughter in Rouen.

She has brought me a gift from Vienna a

Christmas decoration that she bought on her cycle trip along the Danube. I love it! It will be very nice on our Christmas tree!

There even are a fork and spoon

 This weekend my husband has built one of his Birthday present our son has sent him the Lego « Trevi fountain » in Rome.

He finished building it at 2 in the morning !

I had news from Dubai 

Our son should be coming end of July until the two first weeks of August. He is organising a long weekend by the sea in Normandy (Honfleur) in a rented house with an indoor swimming pool, this should be nice if the weather is not good!

Till then we’ll have to get everything out of the cabinets and get the toys out and ready to play with maybe buy a swing for the boys…

Two visitors

 Hello Friends,

We are having a bank holiday today and the weather is fine.

Look at this sleeping boy! He is coming soon to visit grandma with William his little brother.

Grandma will be busy preparing everything as usual.

Impatient to have them home!

The day we had the grass cut I had another visitor at night!

Today we had our field mowed. The grass was very high

But they came this morning and it is done!

You can hardly see the engine on the right.

The weather was not sunny, we had little rain early in the morning, but the grass was dry for 8 AM.

We already have a visitor ready for mice hunting !

Now we will have to paint the little shed which was our donkeys and goats house long ago.

It’s a shed for wild visitors now a shelter for the winter.

The field is twice bigger than on the picture and now it will be mowed in September.

You can see the forest at the back ( what Maxime calls the « jungle »!)

We had deers sleeping in the tall grass of our field and had to wait until the mother and babies left.

A busy day.

Today, the workers arrived to install the second air conditioner. There has been a lot of strong noise when the had to go through the walls but it is in progress.

 It will be done at the end of the afternoon, but other workers are coming tomorrow to cut the grass of our field and do some work in the garden. 🪏 

The workers should be here in a minute after their lunch.

Up to the moon!🌒

 Hello Friends!

Today, a picture of our little ones! This is a kind of museum for children in Dubaï, I find this is a brilliant idea. The two brothers are just under the moon with light on them. As it becomes too hot for children during the summer in the desert they must play about 6 months inside. Olioli children’s play museum Dubaï and many indoor playgrounds. They like to visit their grandparents in our two different countries, but are not used to wear a coat and a hat in winter, so they don’t like our winters!

When Maxime comes to France he wants to go to the “Jungle”which is the forest 🌳 near our home. They only have palm trees and no forests.

William is starting to talk he says:” I did it!” And “I do it again.”

Maxime is going to school in September a British school and will have to wear a uniform! Mum will take him to school by bike in the winter.

Tomorrow some workers are coming to install another air conditioner in another bedroom ready for our visitors.

And the next day a worker to cut the edge and cut the grass from our field. So it will be a busy week.

Something I like. A little Angel statue my some gave me as a Birthday gift a long time ago. This winter I tried to paint a sky decor for it.

Hello Friends!

Here in Normandie June is a special month, especially the 6th! Veterans Day in Normandy.

Vereterans already arrived from abroad this weekend for the festivities, they are now a few, but they are here!

Our daughter is going to run the marathon for” Freedom ” ( marathon de la liberté) this month 30.000 runners !

This and that… and a Birthday! 🎂

 Hello friends!

Today, is my husband’s Birthday we will go out this weekend to the restaurant for a Birthday party.🥳!

Today we will have a high temperature 28 degrees C only today and tomorrow ( for the moment)

So I did my ironing this morning ( a big ironing! Many of my husband shirts!) we have been a lot out so I was late.

This afternoon I stay inside and read while doing the laundry. Yesterday was religious bank holiday and I tomorrow there is the weekend and I will have to prepare the house for next week’s work in the house and in the garden, a busy week.

This year I found this scarf necklace and this sun shield to go with it we begin to need Summer clothes here, but next week the temperature will go down to 20 C and some rain.

This is part of my work! 😂

Here in France it is Mother’s Day today! So Happy Mother’s Day to all of you!

Baking and cooking.

 Hello Friends !

First of all, thank you for your prayers. My son just woke up from his surgery in Dubaï and is ok drinking a coffee he has sent me a selfie!

This morning the sun is shining, but it is chilly. Yesterday I baked Mari’s recipe cookies ( from: My little corner of the world) they are really very good with our coffees !

My husband has had some for his breakfast with his coffee this morning.

Last evening I have cut some rhubarb from the garden and a few strawberries. I have cooked the rhubarb to eat with yogurt, such a nice colour !

And I used tuna and spinach with béchamel to bake lasagne for tonight.

I must take the cookies away from my view! I must not eat  too much cookies! 😂 

My arm surgery is better from day to day.

Tomorrow we have an appointment as we both broke our glasses! To get new ones!

A lazy day …

 Hello Friends !

Today, the sun 🌞 is back! Not for long…rain during the weekend ! I will go back to my daily routine it is too say reading in my bed before I get up with Bandit my dog when there is nothing special to do in the day.

The problem is when I read it is hard to stop… better have a timer ⏱️ !

As a mother I worry about my son’s surgery tomorrow ( after the mother, the son !) he is far away and it is hard not to be there. He already had two surgeries last year this will be an outpatient surgery but he will have to work from home for a week. Too much sports and having hernia!

I hope everything goes well tomorrow for him.

This rest of the week will be quite and I am glad not to do much! Sometimes it is nice to be lazy ! Don’t you think so?
